That says a lot about the power of this amp, with high damping factor and power that doubles to 200wpc to 4ohms load. These were bought directly from Schiit almost exactly 1 year ago.
  • Yeah I understand. But they don't actually clearly state that. One of the selling points is that this is a "high end" fully balanced monoblock. Think of it like a slightly cheaper XPA-1 L but in a smaller chassis. Except it's now an 8 ohm monoblock - which isn't terribly useful for a lot of speakers. Also the damping factor is >100 . Not amazing.

Jun 11, 2020 · I think the headphone amp in the AxeFx III is very good and the DAC is excellent. The only thing I can find fault with is the output impedance of the amp being kind of high (35 Ohms) and that can be a problem if you're considering low impedance headphones because the damping factor will be insufficient and can cause low frequencies to be less controlled than one would normally desire.
