There's a bug in the current remote firmware when the battery is fully drained, the battery level algorithm gets into a bad state and thinks the battery is drained when it's not. It can usually be fixed by leaving on a charger for some time, may take up to 48 hours, but the quicker way to fix it is to reboot the remote by holding back+home+voice search buttons for 15 seconds.
