I normally shoot some of the reduced loads first then finish up my practice session with a few full power loads with the 400 Gr. Hornadys. This is strickly short range practice for an upcoming elephant hunt.

  • Nov 13, 2007 · Winchester and Remington both produce 1oz 12 gauge 2 3/4 steel loads @1300-1350 fps, so you will avoid some recoil with reduced load weight and more with reduced velocity. Only shot sizes available are 6 & 7, I believe. The 6's will do just fine on ducks to 35 yards or so.

  • Sep 28, 2008 · I use Red Dot alot in 8x57, 303B, 35 Whelen and 30-06 reduced loads with both jacketed & cast bullets. As low as 8.5gr and as high as 12gr. No filler! The lower end loads are for the cast bullets only as the jacket variety needs a bit more to get them out of the tube.

May 08, 2014 · I do not care to hear about all the other guns out there I just want a simple answer out of the .243 and the 30-30 which kicks less? And I also don't care to hear about which ones more accurate. If you were to shoot both guns right next to eachother which will recoil more that's all I need to know. The suggestions I got were to reduce the charge even further (to single digits), making it a 50-100 yard round. So I scrapped it for 30-30 and silhouette. I found some reduced silhouette loads using H4895 and H4198 on the Hodgdon website. The H4895 is accurate and JUST gets out there with my sights.
